Seirenkai Jujitsu

Seireinkai Jujitsu Classes:
Sundays 3:30-5:00 pm

The Concord Self-Defense Academy teaches Seirenkai Jujitsu, a style of Japanese Jujitsu developed for the modern world with an emphasis on safety in practice and responsibility in application. The technical emphasis is practical, realistic, and effective self-defense with appropriate response training.

We teach Seirenkai Jujitsu students how to talk their way out of a fight if at all possible.  However, when it is necessary to defend oneself or others, Jujitsu enables one to respond appropriately to the situation matching the severity and danger of the attack and considering the environment and intentions of the attacker. Seirenkai Jujitsu’s self-defense techniques progress from mild to severe and empower practitioners to escape from attackers by controlling the situation with joint locks and throws, and if necessary, with chokes, strikes, and kicking techniques.

While we do include a sporting aspect similar to Judo called Randori (free-play), our Randori emphasis is not on beating an opponent but on doing one’s best and having fun.  Randori is not mandatory, and we do not emphasize sport or tournaments.  We instill self-confidence in our students so they know that they can defend themselves if necessary, but do not need to prove it to anyone.

Spring Session Begins April 7th.
