Fall Session begins September 18th.
Senseis Len and Johanna Glazer have over 40 years of collective martial arts experience. As a martial arts family, we believe that martial arts training can build trust and respect while learning personal safety. Martial arts training not only promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and provides a fun activity for both adults and children.
At the Concord Self-Defense Academy, adult classes focus on practical, effective self-defense (and a good work-out) with strong traditional martial arts tailored to the individual student's abilities and activity level.
Children’s classes focus on skills like balance, coordination, and body awareness through a mixture of traditional training and fun, specialized, active games.
We talk with both our adult, adolescent, and child students about the power of using one's voice, non-violent conflict resolution, dealing with bullies, and making safe choices. Other topics of discussion include internet safety, known offenders, stranger danger, and women’s self-defense issues. Additionally, both adults and children practice hands-on self-defense techniques that are effective for people of all ages, sizes, and levels of physical fitness.
At the Concord Self-Defense Academy students benefit from having both male and female third-degree black belt instructors. Our structure allows for adults to receive high-quality martial arts training while the children have fun and learn self-defense with a highly-trained martial arts instructor.
Quality martial arts training brings confidence, focus, self-discipline, sense of self and a healthy body image. Our students are taught not to compete with others but to compete only with oneself. Doing one’s best, not only in the dojo, but in all daily activities, is a central aspect of our philosophy. Attention to detail, commitment and perfection of character are hallmark traits of our dojo.
